The McRaes Return

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.—The McRaes are pleased to announce their anticipated return to the stage. Annie McRae and Amanda Till will bring back the two-part harmony McRae fans love on such songs as “If It Had Not Been The Lord,” “There Is A Remedy” and “Word of the Lord.” Annie will also continue honing her renowned songwriting. Annie and Amanda most recently traveled with Troy and Katy Peach as TK & McRae. Annie and Amanda, as well as Troy and Katy decided to separate from TK & McRae mutually in order to pursue their own interests. Troy and Katy will travel together for select dates, but want to spend more time at home in order to raise their twin boys. The McRaes will continue to be booked by the Beckie Simmons Agency (615-595-7500) and will fulfill dates already booked.

Annie McRae hails from Waynesboro, MS and over the past six years has become one of the leading vocalists and songwriters in Southern Gospel music. Her very first #1 song, "If It Had Not Been the Lord" and the #1 song of the year for 2005, "There Is a Remedy" features both Annie’s lead vocal and songwriting. Her songwriting is quickly reaching other groups within the genre and will continue to be a focus. Annie has appeared on numerous major concerts and television shows, including TBN’s “Praise The Lord,” the Dove Awards, Gospel Music Association’s Estes Park and the Gaither Homecoming Series.

Amanda Till is 21 years old and recently moved to Nashville from Montgomery, AL. She was saved at a young age and grew up singing in hometown churches, at revivals and special events. Amanda is a two year graduate of the Steve Hurst School of Music. Her love of Southern Gospel music is apparent in her entire family. Amanda’s father was a local concert promoter in Alabama. Her smile and heart for ministry shines through everywhere she goes! Amanda recently married popular singer and guitarist Zach Smith, who travels with Crabb Revival.

Since their beginnings only eight years ago, the McRaes have experienced many career highlights. In 2004 the group claimed their first number one song on the national radio charts, "If It Had Not Been The Lord" and in 2005 they celebrated Song of the Year with "There Is A Remedy." They have been seen during Mark Lowry's Senior Trip, the CrabbJam Tour, featured during Gospel Music Week, on Gospel Music Television, at the Gospel Music Association's Estes Park, presenting during the 2006 Dove Awards, performing on TBN’s “Praise The Lord” program and on the Gaither Homecoming Video Series. The McRaes opened for Mark Lowry's 2000 tour and were featured on his On Broadway video project alongside the Gaither Vocal Band and Sandy Patti. During the induction, organization president Johnny Carson reminisced about watching the gospel TV Shows that emanated from Atlanta as well as the Gospel Singing Jubilee where the Marksmen once made guest appearances. My children and I hand made all the ornaments for our tree that year, and as we finished up with our decorations, Julie, Jason and Elizabeth all climbed up on the sofa and nestled up under my arms,” remember Sharron. “As we admired our masterpiece, I began to share with them the story of Jesus’ birth and why we really celebrate Christmas. As they fell off to sleep there in my arms, I began to count my many blessings and praising God for giving me another chance.”

Old Ribbons & Bows, the new Christmas album, features mostly original music that was written specifically for the record by King, as well as some of Southern Gospel’s most celebrated writers – such as Chris Binion, Twila LaBar, Jeff Ferguson, Tammy Dunaway, and more. The album also features holiday classics like “Oh Beautiful Star of Bethlehem”, “Silent Night, Holy Night”, and “Go Tell It On the Mountain.”

In addition, the new Christmas album features guest vocals from Tammy Dunaway and Kanah Dunaway Lovern (of The Dunaways) on “Go Tell It On the Mountain.”

Sharron continued, “I hope that many people can come to cherish the holiday season like I have now that I am a Child of God. I hope these songs can bring that little bit of extra cheer during the busy holiday time.”

The Hoppers Head Home to Celebrate 50

image
EDEN, NC – Many are saying this will be an extraordinary week of celebration and harmony in Rockingham County, NC; for, besides being Thanksgiving week, it is also anniversary week for the Hoppers, the Madison-based singing group considered one of the great musical treasures of Southern Gospel music. The Hoppers are also known as anchors in the Bill Gaither Homecoming concerts, television programs and videos.

The Hoppers Giant Celebration 50th Anniversary Concert — also called Celebration 50 — is scheduled for this Sat., Nov. 24th, at Morehead High School auditorium, in Eden. The concert begins at 6:00 p.m.

Even after 50 years on the road, the group — with the current lineup consisting of Claude, Connie, Dean, Kim and Mike Hopper — remains one of the most enduring and relevant family singing groups in the music industry today. As Canaan Records recording artists, they continue to break Gospel music attendance records across the country and consistently top the national Gospel music charts. The innovative group remains at the forefront of the genre.

As special guests, during the Saturday celebration, the original Hopper Brothers & Connie will also reunite. The original founding members of the group were Claude, Monroe, Steve, Will and Connie Hopper and they first formed in 1957 along with Connie Shelton (now Connie Hopper). Saturday they will turn back the clock a half century as they offer a special performance, singing many of the songs from their ministry beginnings. Additionally, motivational speaker and comedian Wayne Hopper, also one of the brothers, will entertain the crowd between songs.

Greater Vision will also take the Gospel stage during the night to help commemorate the occasion. This three-member singing group is currently one of the most popular trios in Southern Gospel music and has received multiple Singing News Fan Awards over the years. Also, saxophonist Dennis Sparks will bring his unique instrumental styling to the stage. He will entertain with moving renditions of some of the great hymns of the church and other inspiring tunes.

“With the Lord’s help, we plan for this to be a big celebration for everyone in the county!” Claude added. “This is our chance to humbly thank our many friends for years of encouragement and steadfastness. It’s especially been the people of Rockingham County who have always supported us. It’s great to come home to sing!” The concert is sponsored by the NC Gospel Music Hall of Honor, and officially marks another Hopper anniversary of sharing the vital Gospel message in song. The NC Gospel Music Hall of Honor is a non-profit organization committed to recognizing and promoting the important contribution North Carolinians have made, and continue to make, to Gospel music in all of its forms. The organization also encourages and supports young artists who are committed to spreading the Gospel message in song.

Country/Gospel Singer and Musician Gordon Mote Debuts High on Charts

Mote Garners Early Nods at Radio

BRENTWOOD, Tenn., November 6th, 2007—Acclaimed singer/musician and recording artist Gordon Mote’s new release, Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory (Spring Hill Music Group, RSI Music Group), debuted at #10 on last week’s Christian music Soundscan chart and also landed in the BILLBOARD Top 200 sales chart for its initial week on the shelves.

“We were thrilled to see this kind of response to Gordon,” stated Paul Sizelove, vice president of Spring Hill Music Group. “Gordon has been an industry icon for many years, and to see his talents begin to resonate in the homes of consumers everywhere as a solo artist is rewarding and exhilarating…it was an exciting first week.”

Adding to the excitement is the overwhelming early response at Gospel radio to Gordon’s single “Mercy Walked In.” Selected as one of the December 2007 Singing News Top 10 new releases and the number one pick hit by stations nationwide, the single is poised for a high radio debut and successful chart climb.

“‘Mercy Walked In’ paints an incredible picture...the style, delivery and message of this song is deliberate and very well-communicated,” stated Daniel Britt, of the Morning JoyRide radio program at The New Joy FM and host of “Daniel Britt & Friends” on XM Satellite Radio's enLighten34.

“A lot of people know Gordon Mote’s reputation as a musician, but they may not realize what a powerful vocalist he is,” described Glen Harlow, music director for WZAP Radio in Bristol, Va. “…It has been a while since a song has touched me and my audience like ‘Mercy Walked In.’ It is quickly becoming the most requested song at WZAP.”

Nominated for Musician of the Year at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, Gordon’s music and personality have become an integral part of the “Nashville sound” of recording. In addition to his daily schedules that usually find him accompanying some of country and Gospel music’s most prestigious artists, Gordon performs worldwide in conjunction with the Gaither Homecoming Tour phenomenon in addition to his individual dates. The new release is being promoted aggressively at Gospel and country radio, with national retail positioning and through television in several million homes via numerous networks.

Gordon is scheduled to appear on this week’s CMA Awards broadcast where he will perform alongside longtime friend and award-winning artist Alison Krauss. Krauss made a special appearance on Gordon’s new release.
