Gold City - 24k Gold
Having said that, this would be just another great “classic” recording of old material, except for the fact that there is an extra CD included in the package. This is an “inter-active” CD that has some great moments caught on video, as well as some interesting interviews with the fellas. I don’t want to spoil anything for anybody, but you won’t want to miss the “smackdown” event with Jay and the boys. Check it out, this is one interesting CD set, and is bringing some much needed innovation into the Southern Gospel industry. Rating Reader Comments
24K Gold is a great project just like every other Gold City project is. The behind the scene part is the best part of the cd. It shows a side of the guys that most people don't get to see. It shows why so many people love their personalities.

I was a fan of Gold City. I have there newest project. I`m not impressed at all. Gold City makes hits just by there name and that`s it. As far as the quality of singing, I wasn`t impressed.

For what it is, a compliation disc of hit songs, this is an excellent recording. Just another reminder of why Gold City has been on top for so long!

Linda- I don't think you have any right to say that Gold City makes hits just because of their name. Gold City has not always been on top. They had to work to get there. When Brian and Ivan left they had to re-build what they once had. Their success did not come just overnight. Those songs were from a long time ago and their voices have come a long way since then. Yes, Gold City's songs have been hits but not because they are Gold City but because they are great songs and the group does a great job on singing those songs. If the group couldn't sing I don't think they would be America's Favorite Quartet.

Here is yet another "Best Of" collection from Gold City, and still they have not included the song "Nobody's There". It was a #1 song for them in 1991, but it has not appeared on any of their collections. I wonder why?

I agree, Daryl, that was a very good song. One I'd love to see included, although I don't believe it was a chart topper for them, is "Anchors Aweigh". I always enjoy listening to that one!

Did Gold City do "Anchors aweigh" too? I only remember the Kingsmen doing it.

Hey Tony, I wrote Nobody's There. It reached #2 in Singing News and #1 in Gospel Voice. That looks like a chart topper to me!

As much as I have liked Gold City I will have to say one thing. I attended the first Hissong concert in Danville, Kentucky sunday night and Hissong`s version to God Handled it all is so much better. I know Hissong recorded this before Gold City. The live version in concert was wonderful. I purchased a cd and the arrangement & vocally is so much better. Dont get me wrong, I like Gold City but Hissong has them beat on this one.
