Pioneers Quartet - From Atlanta To You
Lamp Music Group
The Pioneers Quartet is still a pretty new group, but you sure can’t tell it from listening to this their first recording. The song selection is great, using a couple of cover songs with a couple of original songs written by group member Christopher Griffith, and even including a couple of older classics reminiscent of the seventies Imperials sound. Put that all together and they have produced a very interesting and listenable CD.
”I Know What Lies Ahead” opens the CD and Bass singer, Hurley Spinks, does some very impressive low singing in the feature. “A Song Was Born” and “I’ve Got Confidence” are the two seventies sounding songs, and they a very well performed and produced. If you are my age, these songs take you back in time to some good memories. The two songs written by Christopher Griffith are “Vacant Tomb” and “Filled with His Love” have a flavor and personality all their own. Christopher is an excellent songwriter. “When I Move To Hallelujah Square” and “I’ll Live Again” were two of the cover songs that I really enjoyed.
With twelve songs in all, I did not find a bad song on this CD.
